Who we are

We moved on to Wades Farm in winter 2018 and are committed to both looking after our land and producing quality food,  in a way that works with nature. We are both new entrants to farming and have arrived here from very different starting points.

Eddie has a background in graphic design, sculpture and carpentry and ran a successful carpentry business in London for more than ten years. It was always a dream to have livestock and to be able to mill his own timber for projects.

Emma has a background in international development and spent years living and working with communities whose basic needs – food, fabric, fuel and construction materials – were met within their local areas. She is now actively involved in the Fibreshed movement to promote and expand the use of home-grown fibres and dyes  in British textiles and clothing.

Since moving here we’ve put up a polytunnel and some raised beds, replaced derelict stables with a timber frame workshop, started a dairy goat herd (and stopped again) and have slowly expanded the Galloway herd to meet new grazing contracts, as well as built a local customer base for our beef.
